Wellness Potion #9

Hydrating
Anti Inflammatory
Digestive Healing
Alkalizing
Immunity Strengthening

This Wellness Potion has it all!  It’s a staple in my round up of favourite potions to make.  Why you ask? Celery is the most nutritious plant food available.  It has so many benefits, from cancer prevention, lowering cholesterol, controlling blood pressure, preventing and healing digestive disorders, assisting in the maintenance of balancing the acid levels in the body, an anti inflammatory, and if that’s not enough, it assists in weight loss!

Ingredients:

2 large cucumbers
2 small bunches celery
6 kale leaves
1/2 bunch dandelion greens
1 head romaine lettuce
3 apples
2 radishes
1 lemon

Directions:

Wash and prepare your produce, run through your juicer.  If you do not have a juicer, you can use a high speed blender.  If you are using a high speed blender, you will need to add water and prepare the juice in batches as the produce will not fit into the blender jar all at once. Once you have blended the juice, use either cheese cloth or a fine sieve to remove the pulp.

**Do not discard the pulp!  You can add it to your next smoothie, or make pulp cubes in your ice cube maker**

Thinking about purchasing a juicer or a high speed blender?  It’s worth investing in a high quality product, as they last for years with everyday use.  I have had my Blendtec and Omega juicers for 7 years.  I use both several times per day.  I also use my juicer to prepare juice cleanses for clients!

Rise & Shine Morning Love Smoothie

Maca is a superfood adaptogen that is grown in the Andean mountains of Peru. It has been used historically to balance hormones, boost energy and stamina, as well as balance mood and stress levels.   Suffering from hormonal imbalances I discovered maca years ago on my quest to balance my hormones naturally.  It’s probably one of my favourite adaptogens; the nutty flavour adds beautiful depth to smoothies and lattes.  Maca is best used raw because it best preserves the amino acids, minerals, and phytonutrients!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup nut milk
2 frozen organic bananas
small bunch of organic dandelion greens
1 cup frozen organic mango/pineapple blend
2 teaspoons of raw organic maca powder
2 tablespoons of organic hemp hearts
juice of 1/2 of a lemon
juice of 1 large orange

Directions:

Place all ingredients in the jar of a high speed blender, starting with the nut milk and blend until smooth.

Reved Up & Ready To Go Wellness Potion

The nutrition benefits in romaine lettuce are super impressive!  It’s loaded with vitamins A, B6, C, E, and minerals like copper, potassium, magnesium and manganese, making it a great addition to any juice or smoothie. The vitamins and minerals in romaine assist in providing healthy skin, hair, eyes, liver, heart function, and it also contains cancer inhibiting carotenoids.  Get your greens on friends!

Ingredients:

6-8 romaine leaves
4 stalks of celery
small bunch of parsley
2 Granny Smith apples
juice of one large orange
juice of 1/2 of a lemon
2 cups of filtered water
ice

Directions:

Blend all ingredients except the juice from the lemon and orange in a high speed blender and strain through a small sieve to remove some of the pulp.  Once you have removed some of the pulp add in the lemon and orange juice.  Stir to combine.

Healthy Shinny Hair Wellness Potion

The elements in this wellness potion have all the components to assist in achieving healthy shinny, strong hair.  I drank this juice three to four times a week while I was sick.  My hair regained its strength and was growing back in no time.  Something that my family doctor said was unlikely to happen.

The ingredients in this wellness potion help with maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem,  and were selected for there ability to help revitalize the hair from within.

High levels of antioxidants, a wide range of vitamins and minerals such as copper, sulphur, zinc, potassium, in combination with phenolic compounds, and the means to alkalize the body was my mission.  I wasn’t going to let Alopecia or any of my other immune and digestive issues define me.   I incorporated this juice alongside daily meditation, journaling, yoga and Pilates, fresh air plus the LOVE and support of my family.  Within weeks I noticed a major change in my hair as well as my mood, energy levels and my outlook on healing myself without the fist full of prescriptions that my doctor had prescribed.

Ingredients:

1 small head of organic Romain lettuce
1 small head of organic red cabbage (green works fine as well)
1 organic cucumber
1 head small head of celery
2 organic golden beets
5 organic apples such as pink lady, honey crisp, or granny smith
juice of 1 lemon

Directions:
Wash and prepare your produce.  Run through a juicer.

Enjoy!
