Hormone Balancing Immunity Tonic

Reishi has been used as a medicinal mushroom for over 2000 years and is revered as a longevity tonic in traditional Chinese medicine.

Adaptogens use their balancing powers to generate changes in the body, particularly in the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems.

Reishi mushroom has been a part of my healing journey since 2012. I suffered from an immune system that could not defend me from foreign invaders or natural characteristics of my body's cells and tissues, adrenal fatigue and hormonal imbalance.

Reishi contains many organic compounds proven to strengthen the immune cells and improve general immune system health. The secret to the immune-modulating potential is the G lucidum, a powerful polysaccharide that rejuvenates cells, fights infection, reverses oxidative damage and builds immunity. Like most adaptogenic herbs, Reishi also supports and balances the endocrine system. When our bodies are emotionally and mentally taxed, we release cortisol, the stress hormone, to cushion the impact of stress. While cortisol is a helpful hormone, chronic stress can lead to overproduction and adrenal fatigue. Reishi can regulate cortisol levels creating a blissfully balanced and resilient response to stress.

Botanical name: Ganoderma Lucidum

Energetics: Bitter, warm

Properties: Mild adaptogen, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, heart tonic, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, and nervine.

A note on Mucuna powder.

Mucuna, the dopamine bean a sweet and warming adaptogen that offers anti-inflammatory properties and is a calming immunostimulant. Mucina is commonly used to decrease symptoms of Parkinson's disease because of its L-dopa content. It's also a great mood elevator keeping stress and anxiety at bay. In Ayurvedic medicine, it's used to treat rheumatic disorders, muscular pain, infertility, sexual dysfunction, diabetes and cancer.

Not all adaptogenic mushrooms are created equally.

Let's talk about the difference between supplements made from the fruiting body vs mycelium on grain.

The fruiting body is high in healing compounds and beta-glucans, thus boosting brain function, strengthening the immune system and all the other magical benefits of adaptogens. In contrast, mycelium on grain (no fruiting body) has a high concentration of grains, oat, brown rice, and rye and a low concentration of beta-glucans found in the fruiting body.

Grain spawn is an intermediary step in growing the mushroom. Grain is used with hardwood sawdust and mycelium to grow mushrooms. You should strive only to ingest supplements made from the fruiting body.

My Reishi-Cacao tonic recipe has been essential to healing my immune and adrenal systems. It's creamy and grounding, plus the warming properties of the Reishi will keep you coming back for more.
